GREEN DESIGN SOLUTIONS

GREEN home design incorporates smart design, technology, environmentally responsible construction methods and materials to significantly lessen the negative impact of the build on the environment and improve the health and quality of life of the people who live inside as well as making vast savings on utility bills over the life of the home. No matter your location or living situation, the opportunities for building a greener home are limited only by your imagination.

Achieving a comfortable, energy-efficient home requires a different approach to the traditional home-building process: a whole building approach. This perspective views the house as an integrated system with each component working together to achieve greater energy efficiency and comfort.

For new construction, the whole building approach begins in the design phase and continues until construction is complete. It involves close coordination among the architect, site planner, and construction trades to design and build all aspects of the home with the goal of maximizing energy efficiency while ensuring good indoor air quality and occupant comfort. We ensure the GREEN build process is a trouble-free one.

We provide multiple GREEN solutions from simple solar panels to completely self sufficient OFF-GRID systems.

AFS uses the leading 100% water-blown foam insulation (also available in a soya base material) that minimizes air leakage for increased energy efficiency, creates a healthier indoor environment, reduces airborne sounds and offers greater design freedom. Spray foam insulation maintains its performance with no loss of R-value over time. It does not shrink, sag or settle and is the perfect insulation for walls, attics, ceilings and floors. Applied as a liquid, the foam expands to 100 times its volume in seconds to fill every crack and crevice while remaining flexible so that the integrity of the building envelope seal remains intact over time. The AFS spray formula's have an R-value of 3.6 to 6.5 per inch. It acts as a complete insulation and air barrier to minimize air leakage and seal the building envelope for optimal airtightness.

The homeowners of AFS spray insulated energy efficient home kits are enjoying $109.00 on an average in monthly energy savings. Other benefits are:

Minimized Cooling Cost: The AFS spray insulated home is 216 sq. ft. bigger with higher ceilings resulting in additional air volume. In addition, during the daytime, the southern exposure of the AFS home generates an increased radiant heat gain through the many windows, while the fiberglass home's northern exposure and fewer windows saves it from the excessive radiant heat gain.

Given that all the above features point towards a higher cooling load on ourAFS home, the home uses much lesser energy and is 39% more cost effective than the fiberglass home.

Comfortable living: The hot and humid climate of Florida with outside temperatures ranging between 75 and 95 degrees means higher cooling requirements. By minimizing the ingress of warm humid air, spray insulation helps reduce the latent load on the air conditioning unit. The high efficiency 16 SEER air conditioning unit along with the humidistat helps maintain a comfortable indoor environment in the AFS home.

While a more energy-efficient home may moderately increase the overall price of a home, the consumer gets paid back in lower monthly bills, As the cost of fuel goes up, the payback could be even faster than you'd think.

Our Light Gauge Steel is from recycled sources such as scrap cars and demolished building materials.
Our production plant has a zero waste policy to ensure we not only use environmentally responsible raw materials, we enforce responsible manufacturing policies.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit organization committed to expanding sustainable building practices. USGBC is composed of more than 15,000 organizations from across the building industry that are working to advance structures that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work. Members includes building owners and end-users, real estate developers, facility managers, architects, designers, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, product and building system manufacturers, government agencies, and nonprofits.

The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) is a nonprofit Florida corporation dedicated to improving the built environment. Our mission is "to provide a statewide green building program that defines, promotes, and encourages sustainable efforts with environmental and economic benefits."

ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient construction practices, materials and products. Energy efficient choices can save families about a third on their energy bill with similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions, without sacrificing features, style or comfort. ENERGY STAR helps you make the energy efficient choice. As ENERGY STAR PARTNERS we are commited to promoting energy efficient construction materials and methods.
